Implementation of PEN-H protocols in primary health care facilities

Training course
Training on the implementation of PEN-H protocols in primary health care facilities

Our team continues to work on improving the quality of medical care in humanitarian crises.

On December 15-16, regional teams of trainers from Lviv, Poltava, Rivne, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts were trained in Lviv on how to implement PEN-H protocols in primary health care (PHC) facilities.

Medical professionals can familiarize themselves with the PEN-H protocols «Package of essential interventions for non-communicable diseases in humanitarian crises» by following this link.

In addition, experienced trainers and practitioners Yulia Brykulska, Volodymyr Kramarchuk, Oleksandr Prokopchuk, Mariana Klymtsiv, Olena Hrabova, and Hanna Bohatyryova taught participants effective communication skills and training techniques so that they could later conduct cascade training for their colleagues.

The main goal of such training is to teach primary healthcare workers to:

- prescribe evidence-based treatment regimens,

- choose effective models for the distribution of responsibilities between doctors and nurses,

- work with patients to correct their lifestyles.

As part of the project activities, we plan to train at least 500 primary healthcare workers in each of the pilot oblasts in the use of PEN-H protocols in humanitarian crisis situations.

The training is conducted in partnership with the NGO «Medical Leaders» with financial support from the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine.
