Health challenges in the Pokrovsk community of Dnipropetrovsk oblast

The Pokrovsk rural community in the Dnipropetrovsk oblast decided to engage young people in physical activity and, with the support of the «Act for Health» project, organized a sports challenge,which attracted more than 400 participants this year!

How did it work?

Sports coaches conducted online training sessions and encouraged children to exercise and record videos of their workouts. This year, the challenge lasted 21 days and took place both in person andonline.

Village council employees and deputies set an example and joined the challenge, resulting in adultsparticipating in the activities alongside children. The total number of participants exceeded 400!Kindergarten teachers, who also joined the challenge, developed 10 lessons for the little ones. Eighty children who participated in the challenge received useful prizes for sports activities.

The challenge culminated in a health and creativity festival called «Act for Health! Act for Life!» The community developed a logo for the event, and members of the local song theater “Veselka” performed the anthem of the annual sports challenge.

A similar format of activity was already implemented in the community last year, but then the challengetook place online. The community owes its love of sports to the community leader Mykola Khnyukalo,who died prematurely. He initiated participation in the «Act for Health» project, took care of health issues, and dreamed of seeing the residents of his community healthy and active. In memory of Mykola Khnyukalo, such activity marathons will be held annually in the community.
